Having the Sennheiser Momentum 2’s, I couldn’t believe that an earbud could sound any better. And boy was I wrong. Tack on the fact that these earbuds have multipoint pairing as well, I was amazed. The adaptive eq works perfect for me. I would compare it to the Spatial Audio on my Airpod Pro 2’s. These sound so good with any genre of music that I throw at them I’m afraid that I will never have to buy another pair of earbuds again unless it’s these. I know every earbud has it’s place but these have caused me not to care about listening to any of my other nine pair of earbuds because these sound so good. I know that they are missing noise cancellation and transparency modes along with no wireless charging, honestly if they did, there would be no reason to buy any other pair of earbuds ever again. They are that good!
Soundpeats in my opinion have done it again. They’ve managed to make another great pair of upper mid ranged earbuds for less than $60. If you’re on a budget like I am and just looking for a great quality pair of earbuds that’s not gong to break the bank these are that pair. I love the balanced sound that they produce and are perfect for many genres of music. Mine being Heavy Metal they’re absolutely fantastic!
They come in an ultra shiny all so familiar Soundpeats case. They’ve used this case for the last 4-5 earbuds that they’ve released. it’s not too tiny but still pocketable. However this one is a serious fingerprint magnet.
The box presentation is a step away from their usual ones as they always have a person on the front sporting the earbuds….this is a much better look as it is more of a premium looking box presentation.
The packaging is straight forward but very neat and compact. The earbuds come with a set of full instructions and additional pairs of ear tips. I believe the medium ones are installed and they have small and large in the box.
also comes with a charging wire USB A to USB type C connection…this unfortunately doesn’t have quick charge nor does it support qi wireless charging. These take roughly 2 hours to charge both the earbuds and the case. The good news is once these are charged these can last way over 40 hours of playback at a volume of 70% with LDAC off…with LDAC on you get over 35 hours of playback which is more than plenty
These don’t have ANC but they do fit snug and are comfortable in my ear and block out a good amount of ambient sound. These also have the ability to go back tracks too which I believe none of the Soundpeats are capable of doing. Also have the soundpeats app where you can select presets for sound or you can use the custom EQ which in my opinion is better for dialing in exactly how you want to listen to it.
The presets are okay and the Rock & Roll preset is good but using custom you can achieve better playback.
These are also textured so that you can easily grip them when taking them out of the case. I’d have to say there’s really no need to pay $200 for a pair of earbuds nowadays as these have a great modern look…fantastic sound, long battery life and are also IPX4 rated for sweat and water splashes..you can’t submerse these under water or take them into the shower with you.
I’d like to have seen a much higher IP rating considering these don’t have ANC but at least there’s some protection in case you happen to drop one in a puddle or it’s raining outside…and if you’re a heavy sweater when exercising.
I have several pairs of Soundpeats and they never let me down. I also have more expensive earbuds and I’d put these against them toe to toe without question.
I believe right now they still have an early bird special going on where you can get them for a considerable savings from their $60 price tag which another great thing I like about Soundpeats when they release new earbuds.
We have been using SoundPEATS products for the past several years, in addition to a number of other brand headphones. SoundPEATS is a company out of Asia that seems to mostly emulate existing designs for their budget-friendly headphones, but then consistently improve upon their models design and performance. We have a set of SoundPEATS TrueAir2, which are like 2nd gen AirPods, SoundPEATS Q which are similar stemmed earbuds, SoundPEATS Sonic, and recently got SoundPEATS RunFree which are similar to the old Motorola S9 headphones. These SoundPEATS Engine 4 are similar to the Sonic – a fully in-the-ear earbud that is probably most similar to Samsung Galaxy Buds+. If you take a look at the pictures, you can see how the Q (white case on the left) and Sonic (grey case on the right) compare to the Engine 4 (black case in the middle). SoundPEATS seems to have learned a lot since they created the Sonic. The Engine 4 last a lot longer per charge (8 hours constantly on, mix of talking and listening, before any battery warning), have improved sound both due to the hardware and the new audio codec (significantly better than the Q), faster pairing, and also support multiple device connection similar to AirPods. Additionally, the headphone controls are more responsive and it’s easier than previous models to control the play / pause feature. The only weak point in this product so far seems to be the case. Unlike the older cases, it is curved on most edges, so it will only lay flat on the front or back. The older SoundPEATS pictured here also could lay flat on their lid or on the bottom of the case, which meant less chance they would slide off of a desktop or tray table. The other thing missing from this case is wireless charging. While the earbuds themselves charge wirelessly while in the case, you have to plug the case in to recharge it. The Q case at least supported wireless charging, which will be more of a benefit as you find more public Qi charging options in airports and hotels, and as more computers and phones support 2-way charging. But despite that shortcoming of the case, they have similar performance to Galaxy Buds+ at less than half the price. Now the catch is that like any other SoundPEATS product, they will work great until they just don’t work anymore. But the same could be said for Apple and Samsung devices, so I think the risk is worth the reward.
