If you use Siri on your IOS device or Dragon Dictation on IOS or Android device, you have probably realised that it is a real boon when travelling. You can create texts and e-mails and in a fraction of the time it takes to finger type.

But there’s one problem. The chances are you are in a noisy environment e.g. in the street, in a coffee shop, in a station, on a train, in an airport, in your car in a busy motorway service station. Then you have a problem. Although most modern smartphones have noise cancelling microphones, they are typically insufficiently noise cancelling for acceptable speech recognition accuracy. If you try to create some dictation in a noisy place such as in an airport or on a train, chances are you’ll end up doing so many corrections that you might as well have finger – typed it in the first place.

Now we have come up with a solution. Following accuracy testing on several microphones, we offer a superior noise – cancelling headset microphone with adapter cable to connect to your iPhone/iPad/Android device. In testing is loud noise in background, we achieve high word recognition accuracy when dictating into Siri or Dragon Dictation and Siri responded to our instructions e.g. searching the web, adding notes, checking for SMS messages etc. See data below.

In addition, you will be able to use your IOS/Android smartphone as a digital recorder for long dictation pieces, even in noisy places. Dragon Dictation has a limit of 30 seconds dictation. But with a voice recorder app recommended by us, you can dictate into your device and either e-mail the recording to yourself or or upload it to your Dropbox account. You then point Dragon NaturallySpeaking to the recording and then transcribe it into text. (Prior to this, you ‘train’ Dragon to the sound of your voice on your device by feeding Dragon a training text recorded on the iPhone)

This saves having to carry around two devices – a digital recorder and your smartphone. Everything can be done with your smartphone!

With this microphone, we measured the same high accuracy levels from iPhone transcription with Dragon as we got using a high – end digital recorder transcription with Dragon. See data below.
